On Tuesday’s 3News Now with Stephanie Haney, the top headlines and trending topics include how to check your voter registration, make money binge-watching “The Fast & Furious,” and the best places in town to celebrate National Wine Day.
First up, this is your official reminder that Ohio’s primary election is March 17 and today is the deadline to register to vote.
Keep in mind that this election includes more than just voting on the Democratic nominee (if you’re a Democrat). For example, in Stark County, the ballot will includes proposed tax levies for the Plain Township Fire District and the and the Stark County Park District, along with Ohio Supreme Court Justice nominees. (You can check your sample ballot here.)
Why do we care today? Because February 18 is the last day to register for the March 17 election. If you’re not sure if you’re registered to vote, you can check online here. Just enter your first and last name and your county of residence and your registration status will come up.
If you’re not registered, you may be able to do it online, if you have all of the following ready to go:
- An Ohio driver’s license or Ohio identification card number
- Name
- Date of Birth
- Address
- Last four digits of your Social Security number
If you don’t have any of those things, you have to either mail in a form or drop it off in person to your county Board of Elections.
Remember, if you’re mailing it in, the form must be postmarked by today.
In exciting sports news today, the Cleveland Indians have just announced this season’s Special Ticket Packages, while 3News is in Arizona all week for the kick off of spring training.
Shortstop Francisco Lindor is looking to make a multi-year deal with the team, confirming again yesterday that he wants to stay here but the money has to be right.
For those hoping to see him next year, Special Ticket Package perks include things like college caps and bobbleheads.
To name a few (with the full list available here), when the Indians take on the Chicago White Sox on June 20, special ticket holders will receive a co-branded Ohio University Cap, and against the Sox again on June 21, those people will take home a “The Sandlot” Ham Porter Bobblehead.
While general promotional giveaways are available on a first-come, first-served basis to Progressive Field guests, Special Ticket Package items are only available to fans who purchase a Special Ticket Package for that game.
Special Ticket Packages will be available to purchase online at Indians.com/specials beginning on Monday, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. ET
If you’re looking for a way you can earn money for those tickets, fans of “The Fast & Furious” series are in luck.
“F9,” the latest installment in “The Fast & The Furious” movie series comes out May 22 and a Honda dealership wants to pay one movie fan $900 to binge-watch the first nine films in the saga.
Yonkers Honda in New York says it wants to find “the perfect person to help us analyze our favorite franchise through the time-honored tradition of the binge-watch!”
The application asks what you love about cars and driving, why you love movies, and what your favorite car or driving-related movie is of all-time.
By the way, here’s the right order to watch them, since the third movie, “Tokyo Drift,” throws the timeline off with the death of character Han Lue (played by Sung Kang).
- “The Fast and the Furious” (2001)
- “2 Fast 2 Furious” (2003)
- “Fast & Furious” (2009) (the fourth film)
- “Fast Five” (2011)
- “Fast & Furious 6” (2013)
- “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” (2006)
- “Furious 7” (2015)
- “The Fate of the Furious” (2017)
- “Fast and Furious presents: Hobbs & Shaw” (2019)
- “F9”
In “F9,” Han Lue is back, but other clues suggest this still comes after Hobbs & Shaw, so maybe it’s a flashback, but we’ll have to wait and see.
If the titles are too confusing, just remember to watch in this order of release:
1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 3, 7, 8, Hobbs & Shaw, F9.
Applications for binge-watchers will be taken until 3 p.m. EST on May 6. The winner will be contacted on Friday, May 8.
And there’s one more great reason to celebrate today. It’s National Drink Wine Day! To help you enjoy this holiday, we’re highlighting three local favorites for places where you can sip a glass of vino, if you’d like to partake.
At CLE Urban Winery in Cleveland Heights, labels include Rust Belt Rosé, Mighty Cuyahoga Merlot and Lake Erie Riesling.
In Gordon Square, Flight Cleveland also has great options, with the focus obviously being on wine flights here. Guests can sample their more than 400 wines in combinations with fun names like, “Gettin’ Fizzy With It”, “Sweet Child O’ Wine” and “Back That Glass Up.”
And for those wanting a more traditional place to pour a glass, there’s the Rocky River Wine Bar. The atmosphere and the menu are both great, with everything from flat breads to cheese plates.
